New owners are opening the door to multiple generations enjoying all that Highton has to offer through a renovated, two-storey home.

They were one of two bidders contesting the two-storey home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study that sold for $860,000 at Saturday’s auction.

Ray White, Highton agent Sean O’Brien said buyers across generations had shown keen interest in the impeccably presented house at 1 Baum Crescent, Highton that had been listed with $825,000 to $900,000 price hopes.

Geelong’s mortgage belt widens at the fringes

1 Baum Crescent, Highton, was sold at auction on November 2.

A solar-heated swimming pool and a deck with a plumbed gas barbecue are features in the back yard.

Mr O’Brien said three bidders were registered for Saturday’s auction, though two took part seeking the opportunity to become to the first new owners in about 30 years.

“All in all it was all about position, because there was a mixture of younger, older and middle aged buyers,” he said.

“The middle aged couple were family orientated, where they were buying for work and schools.

“The older couple were purely based on their older daughter having somewhere to live and for the future possibilities they could move down to Geelong and the younger couple were based on position again for work purposes.

“You’re very close to Montpellier Primary School. The little IGA and a great cafe are just around the corner at North Valley Rd and Mount Pleasant Rd and then you’ve got the proximity back to Highton Village.

The kitchen and family living area overlook the back yard.

The three-bedroom house offered separate formal living and dining spaces.

“You’re not just buying a house anymore, you’re underpinned by everything that is going on around Highton, from the expansion of Waurn Ponds shopping centre to Highton Village and all the upgrades they’re doing there,” he said.

The house on a 618sq m property offers expansive formal and informal living areas inside, capped off with a rear deck and solar heated outdoor pool in the back yard.

The house has a rendered exterior and interior space over two levels, including a lower ground office or studio and workshop accessed from a carport or front sliding door.

A long hallway flanked by two bedrooms with built-in robes and a tiled family bathroom connects the formal lounge and dining rooms at the front of the house, with a separate living room opening behind the separate kitchen.

The main bedroom, with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe is at the rear, next to a fourth bedroom, study or nursery.
